HMIS Data Standards

Updated on October 15, 2021

About the Data Standards

The HMIS Data Standards determined and published by HUD (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development), in combination with any funding or project specific standards, drive all decisions made for collecting and reporting on data in HMIS.

Current Data Standards Manual

As of October 1, 2021, we are operating on the FY 2022 Data Standards Manual. Please go to the HUD Exchange to see the most update to date version of the manual.

Updates and Changes

HUD updates these standards frequently, and the HMIS Team works continually to ensure that our HMIS is meeting these standards and supporting our partnering agencies in their required reporting needs. Training will be regularly updated to include any changes made to the Data Standards. Scheduled updates will be included in ACE: Annual Commitment to Excellence training (previously Privacy, Security, & Ethics) required for all HMIS Users.
