Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance Appoints New Vice President of Operations, Nissy New

The Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance (MDHA) is excited to announce that Nissy New will serve as its new Vice President of Operations, beginning July 22, 2020. She will be succeeding Diana Romagnoli, as Diana becomes the new President and CEO of MDHA’s Continuum of Care (CoC) member organization, the Turtle Creek Recovery Center.

Nissy has made ending poverty her mission in life, and she is no stranger to the realm of homelessness, having begun her non-profit career at The Bridge, another CoC member organization. (Fun fact: For most of that time, The Bridge was technically part of MDHA, so Nissy is, to the best of our knowledge, MDHA’s first returning permanent MDHA employee!)

Nissy then served as an associate with Clarkson Davis, a renowned consulting firm in the non-profit space, before moving on to another CoC member organization, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas (UWMD). There she served as a director in the Community Impact department, where she interfaced with MDHA and many of our CoC member organizations. Early in her tenure at UWMD, she was key in United Way and MDHA co-founding the MDHA Flex Fund. For the past year, Nissy has served as a director with one of Dallas’ newest and most innovative non-profits, the Child Poverty Action Lab.

Carl Falconer, MDHA’s President and CEO, feels that Nissy is exactly what MDHA needs, as it endeavors to not only prevent a tsunami of homelessness due to COVID-19, but continue to decrease the number of those experiencing homelessness. “She is an expert at building and strengthening nonprofit organizations,” Carl said, “and that expertise will be a tremendous asset to our entire team, moving forward.”

Nissy is a graduate of the Political Science department at the University of Texas at Dallas and holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. She resides in Rowlett with her husband and two rowdy babies. She looks forward to creating profound change with her new teammates at MDHA.
