This past week has been hard on those of us who are housed, but much harder on our homeless friends. We wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and thank our many homeless rehousing system member organizations and partners, who made these last few days a little easier for our homeless friends. They went above and beyond, and through collaborative efforts, they provided warmth, shelter, and food to close to 1,000 of our unsheltered homeless friends.
None of us in the numerous organizations who were involved in developing and providing inclement weather shelter in Dallas and Collin Counties these last few years could have predicted what happened this week. Little did we know that those efforts laid the foundation that this week made the difference between life and death for hundreds of people. It truly does take a village.
