Town Hall Meetings to Discuss CoC Governance Changes

As we have shared before, MDHA, with the Dallas and Collin Counties’ Continuum of Care (CoC) has been engaged in a homeless rehousing system transformation process.

The hard rehousing work of each partner agency and each workgroup requires the support of an enhanced governance structure to set strategy and vision, support implementation, align resources and activities, and ultimately codify and scale best practices. To that end, the currently combined MDHA CoC board is exploring plans to reform its governance and create two boards by the end of 2020 to help advance the collective goals of the homeless rehousing system.

High performing communities usually have two separate boards, one overseeing the system and one overseeing its backbone organization. Though the backbone organization staffs and organizes the work of both the backbone organization and the entire system, separate boards allow communities to maintain equal focus on the health of both the system and the backbone organization.

The CoC Board workgroup, led by MDHA CoC Board Chair, Karen Hughes, has been hard at work updating the charter and the proposed governance structure for the CoC. The MDHA CoC Board invites you to join us for one of two town hall meetings to hear about the updated plan and give your thoughts and input. We will incorporate your feedback into the updated governance structure recommendations as they move forward to the full CoC Board for review. Click through for login info, a draft charter and a PowerPoint presentation. We will cover these during the meeting; however, we urge you to review them in advance:
