On March 27, 2020, the United States Congress passed HR 78, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Stimulus act, (CARES Act). From the CARES Act, Mesquite received $1,583,307 in Community Development Block Grant – COVID19 (CDBG-CV) funds for emergency assistance to individuals, families, public service agencies and small businesses directly impacted by COVID-19. In fiscal year 2020, a total of $412,500 was allocated to Agency’s which address housing, food security, domestic violence, Youth, and mental health needs.
The City of Mesquite is accepting applications for its fiscal year 2021 CDBG-CV funds beginning through October 23, 2020. The City estimates it will have approximately $1,170,807 available for allocation. Eligible non-profits, City departments, and neighborhood organizations are encouraged to apply. Interested agencies and organizations must have a program that meets one of the following National Objectives: (1) Benefits persons of extremely low- to low-income; (2) Meets community development needs related to COVID-19. Funding will be available to awarded agencies January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021.
