North Texas Giving Day is a very important day for us, at MDHA, in our effort to end homelessness. Of course, you know that, but you might be wondering, during a pandemic, why should you care about ending homelessness?
We’re glad you asked! In fact, ending homelessness was always the right thing to do and was always more cost effective than leaving folks on the streets and in shelters. However, before COVID-19 we could imagine that the plight of our homeless brothers and sisters wouldn’t affect any of us, directly.
With COVID-19, it is affecting us, directly. Keeping our homeless brothers and sisters in shelters and on the streets, unable to practice social distancing, puts each and every one of us at risk.
COVID-19 is showing us that a home is more than four walls and a roof; a home is healthcare, public safety, family, community. We must act now to make this a reality for everyone, and end homelessness in this, our home, Dallas and Collin Counties. You can do your part on September 17, 2020.
