Our cute yellow Victorian is buzzing with activity. Here are some highlights of what is shaping up to be a busy MDHA summer:
Once a year, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issues a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) inviting communities to apply for funding for their Continuum of Care (CoC) programs. We put up a special page on our website to help our grantees and potential grantees access all of the relevant information and resources necessary to apply for such funding within our CoC. There’s a lot of work to do between now and mid-September, when the process wraps up.
As you may recall, we are looking for our next President/CEO. That person needs to be a strong leader, who can provide agency leadership, planning and collaboration; resource development; program delivery; administration and management of MDHA. Just click on the title to read the full job description.

We bid farewell to the Chair of the MDHA CoC Board of Directors, John E. Castaneda, Executive Director of our partner, the Turtle Creek Recovery Center. Thank you, John, for your leadership and your dedication to MDHA and to our homeless friends. We are excited to welcome Karen Hughes (pictured), as our new Chair! Karen, who is the President and CEO of our partner, Vogel Alcove, previously served as our Treasurer.
Edd Eason, of our partner and grantee, CitySquare, is our Vice Chair, and he represents the CoC General Assembly, on our board. He has graciously agreed to double as Treasurer. Rounding out our executive committee is Ashley Brundage, of our partner, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, and veteran board member, Traswell Livingston, III, of our partner and grantee, AIDS Services of Dallas, who chairs the nominating committee. Thank you all for your ongoing dedication and leadership!
