We had a blast at our 2nd annual Landlord Appreciation Luncheon, yesterday, March 19, 2019, at the Las Colinas Country Club, in Irving, Texas! This event is designed to recognize those on the front lines of providing housing in our homeless response system, landlords and property owners.
Landlords and property owners are key to the supply side of the housing equation, and both landlords and MDHA have symbiotic interests. We are lucky to have sophisticated landlords in our community, who see housing those in need, as not only the right thing to do, but a smart business proposition. Working with these unsung heroes, we and our partners continue to make homelessness rare, brief and nonrecurring, one person at a time.
Karen Hughes, our board chair, welcomed everyone, David Gruber, Development and Communications Director delivered the invocation, Shavon Moore, Vice President of Programs served as mistress of ceremony, and delivered a call to action, on behalf of MDHA, and with Diana Romagnoli, Vice President of Operations, handed out awards (see below). We were honored to host Charletra Sharp, of the City of Dallas Office of Homeless Solutions, who delivered a call to action, on behalf of the city, as well as Dallas County Commissioner Dr. Theresa Daniel, who delivered moving closing remarks.
