What is the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP)?

In 2023, our local homeless response system received the nation’s largest award—$9.3 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)—to combat youth homelessness. This groundbreaking funding comes through the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP), designed to empower communities with the resources, technical support, and flexibility needed to create lasting solutions.

The All Neighbors Coalition has developed a Coordinated Community Plan (CCP) outlining our community’s strategy to prevent and end youth homelessness. This initiative represents a community-wide commitment to ensuring every young person has a safe and stable place to call home.

Coordinated Community Plan (CCP)

The Coordinated Community Plan (CCP) is the result of a collaborative and comprehensive planning effort to establish a shared vision, mission, goals, and actionable strategies to prevent and end youth homelessness.

All communities participating in the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) are tasked with developing a CCP in partnership with a diverse group of stakeholders. This includes the lead agency, local organizations, technical assistance from HUD, and most importantly, input from youth with lived experience.

Through this intensive planning process, our community not only outlines its approach to addressing youth homelessness but also determines how YHDP funding will be allocated to create meaningful, sustainable change.
