Accessing Immediate Available Housing with Assessment, Area Ties, and the Move On Program

The Dallas Real Time Rapid Rehousing Initiative, or DRTRR, has a goal to rehouse over 2,600 individuals experiencing homelessness by October 2023. An unprecedented amount of money is flowing through our system to house people. Many key partners have been working together to ensure we are leverage this opportunity. This initiative will require a tremendous amount of coordination.

The CoC is actively preparing for the Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) program to provide case management services and housing vouchers to over 750 households across Dallas and Collin County. The first phase of the implementation will be focused on families and DV households for the first 150 referrals started on 8/9.

Immediate Available Housing – Need help assessing ALL households experiencing homelessness

With IMMEDIATE AVAILABLE HOUSING for clients, we need to identify ALL households experiencing homelessness in our community, meaning all clients should be assessed to be matched to the most appropriate intervention. In an effort to track this information more efficiently, refinements have been made in HMIS and a new assessment is available for completion in clients profile to document city or area ties. If you visit the link HERE you can find a detailed step by step on how to complete the assessment to indicate an area tie for clients on the Queue.

If you have any questions about how to complete this assessment or what constitutes a city or area ties please reach out to Stephanie Demar (stephanie.demar@mdhadallas.org) or Samantha Maggiani (Samantha.Maggiani@clutchconsultinggroup.com) and they would be happy to assist.

Your diligence with this is greatly appreciated and is a critical step to help us get these households referred as quickly as possible.

Move On Program

Public Housing Authorities have been awarded mainstream resource vouchers which will be used for the Move On Program. These vouchers are for clients, referred by providers, who NO LONGER require supportive services and case management. Through this program, the CoC and housing providers are partnering with local Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) to obtain Housing Choice Vouchers. These vouchers provide financial assistance to maintain housing to clients who no longer need supportive services and case management, so they can move out of the limited number of housing interventions (PSH, RRH) and open up space for vulnerable clients in need of supportive services and case management.

If you have any questions about the Move On Program, please reach out to La’Johna Carter (La’Johna.Carter@mdhadallas.org) and she would be happy to assist.
