This was the second installment of the 2022 Hard Conversation series, Who Deserves a Shot at the American Dream? Mike Koprowski, National Campaign Director of the National Low Income Housing Coalition, was in conversation with Gregg Colburn, assistant professor at the University of Washington, and Clayton Page Aldern, a Seattle-based neuroscientist turned journalist and data scientist, about their book, Homelessness is a Housing Problem.
Together, they unpacked how the data clearly shows that “homelessness is a direct result of how we construct and operate our cities,” and how ultimately our society must decommodify housing to end homelessness and housing insecurity. This means providing housing to everyone, rather than treating housing as profit making commodity.
