For our first Hard Conversation of the COVID era, we invited back a pair that packs a punch, Randy Mayeux, of 15 Minute Business Books and CitySquare’s Urban Engagement Book Club and Rev. Dr. Michael Waters, Senior Pastor of the Abundant Life AME Church in Dallas.
Randy presented a book synopsis of Zach Norris’s We Keep Us Safe: Building Secure, Just, and Inclusive Communities. Dr. Waters expounded on how the lessons of the book can be applied to our community, here in Dallas.
Little did we know that we were actually getting “two Waters for the price of one”. Yulise Reaves Waters, Esq., a prominent Dallas attorney (and board member of CoC member organization, Family Gateway) expounded on how the Lone Star Justice Alliance, where she serves as Deputy Director, is doing some of the work Norris discusses in his book, right here in the DFW area.
Due to the pandemic, this Hard Conversation was held virtually. If you missed it, we’ve got you covered! You can listen to the Randy’s audio of his synopsis, and you can watch video of the whole session. Download Randy’s handout before you start. He encourages you to print it out, grab a pen, and follow with him, as you listen/watch.
